On 31st January we were rejoicing because the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill had been defeated in the Commons.

But then, on 16th February, six Cambridge Law Professors wrote to The Times about the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill. In their opinion, a Cabinet Minister could, under the terms of this Bill, and without reference to Parliament, create a new offence of Incitement to Religious Hatred, punishable with two years’ imprisonment. Some commentators think that this new Bill is the biggest ever threat to freedom in the UK.

The Bill had its second reading on 9th February. On 21st February the Christian Institute in an email to me said ”We are aware of this Bill and are looking into it.Is anybody doing anything?
