Hello

Just a post to test the waters.  Anyone particularly interested in audio/video downloads, particularly from Conferences (where we don’t have problems with copyright permission)?  If yes, what would you be interested in?

Anything from conferences would be greatly appreciated.  I generally think that audio is more useful - given the smaller file size - although it’s good to have a picture of the person speaking. Something else that might be useful would be to link a particular conference to a message board where people could express their thoughts on what they’ve heard. This would be particularly helpful to those of us who don’t get a chance to get to conferences very often. It might be a substitute for having a chat over coffee in between talks.

By the way, I think the Affinity launch video is excellent. I’ve put a little link to it from our fellowship site - the sort of thing that you can be happy to identify with.  grin

Yes anything from the Affinity or FIEC conferences would be excellent-whatever you have permission to use.

Would a list of churches affiliated to Affinity that have audio content online be possible?

Three churches affiliated to Affinity, in Liverpool, with online audio files are:
Christ Church Liverpool - http://www.christchurchliverpool.org/resources/audio/
Belvidere Road Church - http://www.belvidere.org.uk/media.html
Bridge Chapel - http://www.bridgechapel.com/Media/AllMedia.aspx

Hi Ben

Thanks for that suggestion.  When we release the next new feature of the Affinity site, I’m going to suggest the ability to add this to it - list churches with audio content is a great idea.

This sounds like a good idea and could be implemented easily.  I’m discovering new sites all the time with interesting audio content.  I just found a huge list of them in the link below containing a wide range of content and speakers. All sorts of issues are covered.

http://www.covenantseminary.edu/resource/ResultDetail.asp?rPage=L&slType=Title

(If the page doesn’t load, you could type the main URL - http://www.covenantseminary.edu and search for the messages.)

I remember when I became a Christian first, I attempted to rent teaching tapes by post from some source and the customs wouldn’t allow them into Ireland. I don’t think it was them being anti-christian. I think that it was some quirky law or other. That was life before the World Wide Web!  Then again, tapes circulating wasn’t always a good thing. More than once, I’ve seen young Christians go off track because they became locked into the teaching of some extreme preacher from across the atlantic (not that they’re all like that in the US !) . All the more reason why we should point Christians to good resources. The only thing is that the choice can be a bit overwhelming.  I wonder if it would be a good idea to nominate a few talks each month that would be specifically recommended and that would be up for discussion. There is a Harry Potter talk on BeThinking.org by Jeram Barrs. That might be a good one to start the ball rolling. Or perhaps we could have something more related to the immediate objectives of Affinity.

Anyway, the list audio message from Affinity-affiliated churches seems like a good way to begin.
