I notice that the BBC has an article hidden away in its pages entitled
Afghan on trial for Christianity http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4823874.stm
It is much more serious than just “On Trial”
Abdul Rahman faces the death penalty in Afghanistan if he doesn’t recant Christianity and convert back to Islam. Although this is mandated under sharia law, this is against Article 18 of the UN Universal Declaration of human rights which is included in the preamble to Afghanistan’s constitution. Surely this is, at least, newsworthy in a country (UK) that is committing forces to support this regime or maybe we should not say anything for fear of causing offence?

The Barnabas Fund website has information on this story and is encouraging people to write to their MPs about it:

Abdul Rahman has now been freed and been given asylum in Italy.

However, other Christians in Afghanistan still face persecution

And many converts to Christianity in the UK face problems
