The Manchester Bombing

A terrible atrocity was committed in Manchester last night.

A suicide bomber set off an explosive device at a concert. What was especially cruel about this attack is the fact that it was mostly young people at this event – mothers and daughters; school friends on an evening out. Twenty-two have been killed and many more injured.

We extend our sorrow and sympathy to family and friends of the victims. We express our support for the emergency services dealing with the aftermath and to the security services seeking to investigate the perpetrators.

We pray for God to bring comfort and consolation to those who grieve. We pray for God in his mercy to grant us peace and safety. And we look forward to the day when Jesus returns and righteousness and justice will be established forever.

May your church, Lord Jesus, bring a message of hope in the darkness.
