Thought of the Day – Tuesday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

This is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Peter writes his second letter to encourage Christians to be certain of the authenticity of what they have been taught, careful about what they teach and ready for Jesus’ return.

In chapter 1, verse 16 he says “we did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power”.

The record of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus is not a fairy-tale or a story passed down through the generations, each one adding its own spin on it. It is the eyewitness accounts of those who were there and who wrote it down for us.

Peter says he saw these things with his own eyes. He particularly mentions the mountain where Jesus was transformed to look spectacular. And of course, Peter saw many other things – including Jesus after the crucifixion, raised from the dead.

He goes on to say that it is not just about his own words. Actually, all the prophetic record – all of the Bible – is reliable, ultimately because it came from God.

So have confidence that the gospel story is true and reliable and that you can trust the Bible as God’s word.
