Thought of the Day – Wednesday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Good morning. The book of Proverbs gives us wisdom to navigate through life, shaped by honouring the Lord God and listening to him and today we’re going to think about what it says about our relationship with money and the things money buys. Let’s be honest – this is a tricky one for us.

It’s observations are right on the money.

In Chapter 3 verse 2 we see how wealth is ultimately unsatisfying:

“Whoever loves money, never has money enough.”

In chapter 23 verse 4, we read that trying to get money and keep money is so exhausting:

“Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
    do not trust your own cleverness.”

Wisdom is knowing that all our resources come from God and we can be content with what he has given us. Our goal is to follow the advice of Chapter 3 verse 2 which says “Honour the Lord with your wealth”.

How will you guard against the relentless and exhausting pursuit of wealth?

How will you use all your resources to honour God – to spend and be spent for his glory and honour?

My name is Graham Nicholls and I’m the Director of Affinity, a partnership of gospel churches. May God bless you, have a great day!
