Thought of the Day - Friday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

What do you boast in? Where is your confidence?

Is it in your achievements, your religious acts, your Bible knowledge or all the hard work you do for your church?

What is the bedrock of your hope when all else gives way?

Paul ends the letter to the Galatians in chapter 6 verse 14 telling us where his confidence lies:

“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

He doesn’t want to boast about his achievements, his good works, his religiousness or his law keeping. The one thing he pins his hope on, is the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He doesn’t ever want to depend on anything else. The cross has transformed his life. He is "dead to the world" – the approval and the gods of the world no longer have a hold over him. He is alive as part of the new creation.
Life is still tough for Paul – and he has the scars to prove it. But it is worth it. It’s the only thing that counts.

What matter most to you? It has to be being part of God’s plan for restoring what was lost in the garden of Eden.

Is this your boast today? And to whom are you going to boast about it?

My name is Graham Nicholls and I'm the Director of Affinity, a partnership of gospel churches. May God bless you, have a great day!
