Thought of the Day – Tuesday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Jesus says in Matthew chapter 6 that we should seek first the kingdom of God.

It means that we put following Jesus ahead of all else. It means we re-align our priorities to get to know him and to know what he wants us to do.

How do we do that?

Is starts as we make it a priority to learn about Jesus from his word, the Bible; to understand the story-line from Genesis to Revelation, from creation to new creation; to understand who Jesus is and his mission; to study his character; to see how he fulfils and lives out all the promises of the perfect righteous servant, the obedient son and the conquering king.

We want to know Jesus and to be like him – we have a constant appetite for learning about him. We do that by reading the Bible alone, and with other Christians – by reading, listening and reflecting; by reading books and listening to speakers that help us understand what the Bible is saying.

And we want to pray to God with kingdom priorities: To pray, “Your kingdom come; bring many people into the kingdom under the lordship of Christ. And please, Lord, come back soon!”

So, depending on God’s grace in your weakness, are you seeking God’s kingdom as you make time to study God’s word and pray today?

My name is Graham Nicholls and I’m the Director of Affinity, a partnership of gospel churches.
