Thought of the Day – Thursday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Jesus says in Matthew chapter 6 that we should seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness – to put him first. We will not do this perfectly; only Jesus did that. But we do want to follow the commands and the example of Jesus.

Jesus calls us brother and sisters. Seeking the kingdom means we want to meet together and serve together with other people who are in the kingdom.

It means you’ll make a priority of getting together with God’s people.

How do you feel about the gatherings of the church? If you miss them it’s like missing out on a family party. There may be good reasons you can’t be there, but you really wish you were there.

And it means you want to serve together – to get involved using the gifts God has given you to help build the kingdom.

When it comes to your church, are you like an individual passenger on the train or are you part of a group with a family ticket? Normal passengers get on and off when they want and have no allegiance to the other travellers. Is that how you are about church?

People with a family ticket are together – invested in each other, doing the journey together, sharing snacks, sharing life, helping each other on the journey.

Seeking first God’s kingdom means we seek our God’s people as our family.

My name is Graham Nicholls and I’m the Director of Affinity, a partnership of gospel churches.
