The Bulletin (July 2010)

imageSuddenly, in June, the government pulled the plug on the vast vetting and barring scheme which had been about to oblige all Sunday School teachers and drivers on a church transport rota to register with the Independent Safeguarding Authority. In this issue of The Bulletin, Rod Badams offers some reflections on the kind of slimmed-down scheme which the government could adopt in its place. He also gives us the background to Marc Chagall’s permanent exhibition in Nice of Le Message Biblique, and points out its usefulness as a talking-point for evangelicals.

John Ling brings us up to date on a wide range of “Life” issues, including the latest abortion statistics, the ethical and health perils of IVF, and the ever-present threat of the recognition of euthanasia. He also considers the implications of some of the latest stem cell research.

Prayers in Bideford, and OFSTED’s recent attack on the way Christianity is taught in State schools, are also reported in this issue.
