Public Engagement

The Social Issues Team deals with 'citizenship' issues in the realms of medical ethics, education, the media, work, law, politics, marriage and parenting, disability, gender and much more.

This strong team, which includes nationally-acknowledged experts in their field, passes on its advice and comment to churches via The Bulletin (formerly the Citizenship Bulletin). It also makes submissions to consultations initiated by government and other authorities.

Response to “Private Action, Public Benefit” Government Consultation

It has long been established and is recognised by Christian theologians that a local church should be entitled to be independent and self-governing without denominational interference. All the churches affiliated to the FIEC and many hundreds of chapels and other churches throughout the UK believe this to be a fundamental tenet.
