Thought of the Day – Thursday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Peter writes his second letter to encourage Christian believers to be certain about what they believe, careful about what they teach and to be living in joyful hope, ready for Jesus’ return.

In chapter 3 he wants them to understand that in the last days “scoffers will come”.

He means people will make fun of Christian beliefs about what happened in the past – that God made the world and about the life of Jesus. They will also ridicule our trust that Jesus is coming back again as the ultimate judge of all people. They will say, “Well it hasn’t happened yet, so it probably never will. So let’s get on with our lives.”

Peter tells us that the reason God doesn’t strike down dead all who blaspheme like this is that he is patient. He wants to give time for people like this to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Be certain of this: everything God has said is true. Don’t be put off if people at home or work or school ridicule you. Be as patient as God is, longing for people to come to know Jesus for themselves.
