Thought of the Day – Friday

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Good morning. We have been looking this week at the book of Proverbs which gives us wisdom to navigate through life, shaped by honouring the Lord God and listening to him.

There are four beautiful poems in chapters 1, 3, 8 and 9 which are spoken by “Lady Wisdom”. She symbolises the perfect, transcendent, universal wisdom behind the creation of the world, behind every prudent and good action. She calls out in the streets, pleading to be heard, because ignoring her leads to destruction.

We know that wisdom is not just a concept or a set of ideas. Wisdom is ultimately found in Christ. Paul tells us in Colossians that in Jesus are “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”.

Jesus is that wise person we should have been but have not as we have listened too many times to the voice of folly instead. Jesus is the perfect embodiment of the one who always listens to his Father’s instruction. He now offers his perfect life in exchange for our foolish and broken ones. And his is the perfect example for us to follow.
