Thought for the Day – Tuesday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Galatians is a letter written to Christians who were beginning to think that they needed to do things to earn God’s favour.

Paul’s main mission was to take the good news of Jesus Christ to non-Jewish people. One time he had to go and explain what he was doing to the church leaders in Jerusalem. Some of the Jewish Christians wanted these new non-Jewish believers to keep the OT law. But Paul argued against this.

He knew that making them keep the law would distort the message that eternal life is a free gift in Christ. The other church leaders in Jerusalem realised Paul was right.

He says in chapter 2 verse 8 “For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised (Jews), was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles.”

There is nothing you need to change about your culture to become a Christian – you just need to repent and believe the gospel.

Do you recognise God’s grace at work in other Christians, in other churches and across the world? They might be different to you, come from very different backgrounds and have different gifts and missions. But the same Jesus is Saviour of us all.

My name is Graham Nicholls and I’m the Director of Affinity, a partnership of gospel churches. May God bless you, have a great day!
