Foundations has a new Editor

Affinity is thrilled to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Malcolm Maclean as the new editor of Foundations Theological Journal.

Rev. Dr. Maclean brings extensive experience to this role. He served as minister of Greyfriars Free Church in Inverness until his retirement in 2023, after a 14-year tenure. Previously, he pastored in the Free Church of Scotland on the Isle of Scalpay in the Western Isles. His editorial expertise includes roles as managing editor at Christian Focus Publications, current editor of its Mentor imprint, and former editor of the Free Church of Scotland’s Monthly Record. Malcolm is also an accomplished author, with works including a book on the Lord’s Supper and a devotional on the Song of Solomon. He resides in the Highlands of Scotland with his wife, Katie.

Malcolm Maclean said: ‘I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord’s church as editor of Foundations. My vision is to have articles that are accurate and accessible and that will, under his blessing, bring a desire to admire and adore our gracious God. To bring that about, I ask for your prayers.’

Graham Nicholls, Director of Affinity, said: ‘Foundations is a respected theological journal with a powerful search tool and original articles. I am delighted that Malcolm is willing to be the next editor. He will bring a wealth of experience, contacts, and theological insight, and I am already looking forward to the next issue. We are extremely grateful for Donald John MacLean’s great work as editor. On behalf of Affinity and the entire Council, I extend our thanks for his five years of service, which maintained the high quality of the journal’s articles. We pray for the Lord’s blessing on him in his many other responsibilities.’
